Cognizant App Design

Project Overview
I tackled a project tasked to collect users' emails and behavioral data for Cognizant's client through a user-friendly and visually appealing budgeting app. The app allows users to allot resources for events with family and friends depending on the people they get together with annually.
Summary
This project demonstrates my ability to combine user research, design principles, and iterative feedback to create a useful and usable app. I made sure to balance form and function, resulting in a pleasant user experience.
Deliverables
User research insights, evaluated app ideas, UI styles, wireframes, mockups and prototypes
Team Members
2 UI designers, 2 UX researchers, UX strategist, UX design lead, and product manager
Project Duration
2 months
Desk Research and Target User
To understand the competitive landscape and narrow down the target user, I conducted desk research on recent user behaviors and preferences. We decided our target user is 30-42 years old and strives to be financially literate.
App Ideation
Based on the insights from desk research, I brainstormed and refined several app concepts in English and Japanese. Some of the app ideas are shown below.

Idea Evaluation
To recommend the top app ideas to the client, I evaluated the ideas based on feasibility, trend alignment, target fit, cross marketing, brand image and long term value, and ranked them. Here is an initial example of the economics coach matching app idea that scored well based on evaluation.
UI Style
To propose the brand direction and establish the visual identity of the app for the client, I created UI styles that align with design trends in Japanese fintech and banking products.
Wireframes
We decided to start building upon the budgeting app, and I drafted wireframes to define the information architecture of key screens like the budgeting and sign up pages.
Mockups and Prototypes
The final design phase involved creating high-fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes with some micro-interactions to showcase the user flow to the client.
